A guide to wedding insurance…

The average cost of a wedding these days is around £20,000.

Many people will spend much less than this and others much more, but everyone getting married has something in common – in paying for their big day they are making one of the largest financial investments of their lives.

After buying a house or a car, the other significant financial commitment in most people’s lives will be their wedding day or civil partnership.

Because a house and a car cost so much the majority of people insure them, for the same reason more and more people are buying wedding insurance. This view is supported by a recent poll by the leading website Ukbride.co.uk where up to 58% of people polled said that they were considering purchasing wedding insurance.

Which level of Wedding Insurance is right for you?

We would suggest that couples don’t just purchase the cheapest wedding insurance available without first considering other levels of wedding insurance cover. Rather couples should take the time to work out what they are spending on all the main areas of their wedding or civil partnership and then carefully select the level of wedding insurance that adequately meets their need.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our ceremony and reception are on different dates, am I covered?

Yes, you are covered if your reception is within 21 days of your ceremony. If your reception is more than 21 days after your ceremony simply call us on 0344 412 3115 for a personal wedding insurance quote.

Will I be covered for deposits already paid prior to purchasing the wedding insurance?

Yes, as long as the incident that has caused you to lose these deposits hasn’t already occurred, you will have cover for any costs incurred prior to purchasing the insurance. We cover deposits going backward for an unlimited time period, so even if you paid the deposit for your wedding venue or reception three years ago you would be covered!

Is cover provided for the eventuality that one of my wedding suppliers goes into bankruptcy/liquidation?

Yes, there is cover under the Failure of Suppliers section.

Does your wedding insurance cover overseas weddings?

Yes, cover is available for weddings overseas.However, we are unable to offer cover for marquees, ceremonial swords or public liability for weddings taking place outside of the UK or personal liability cover for weddings taking place within the USA or Canada.

When does my wedding insurance cover start?

Cover starts from the moment payment is received.

Will my wedding insurance cover my honeymoon?

Unfortunately not. If you would like to cover your honeymoon please ask about travel insurance.

Is there a minimum time before the wedding that I have to book insurance?

We are able to issue a wedding insurance policy for you at anytime up to the day before the wedding as long as you know of no reason which may cause you to incur a claim before you purchase your policy.

Can I upgrade to a different level of cover if my costs increase?

Yes, just give us a call on 0344 412 3115 and we can arrange this for you.
